One day when I was playing with the children in the day care unit, I met her. She is almost 14 years old but as she begins to talk, she sounds like a very wise lady. When you look into her brown eyes you find yourself sailing in a sea of dreams and hopes, she inspires you by her charming personality.
Halema is a poet, an artist and a writer. She is a multitalented girl.
You will be surprised at the sight of an amazing drawing featuring her desert environment which she drew with her left hand ,as she couldn't move her right arm through which she was receiving IV fluids. She completed her drawing in less than an hour ! Do you see how insistent she is!!In 2008, Halema was diagnosed with sharp leukemia ,she travelled then immediately from her native town to Hospital 57357 in Cairo where she was welcomed and taken care of both physically and mentally and started her therapeutic journey . Back then, she also demonstrated talent and determination but she wasn't as vibrant ,you could observe that going through her portfolio of expressive uncolored drawings .
Day by day Halema is getting better and better,she is getting back her vitality , and now after 3 years of treatment and quality care, she is almost recovered. Halema responded so well to the treatment that she was spared the intake of the last 12 doses of chemotherapy, and is back to coloring her drawings.To all of you who wish to donate your time to a noble cause, don't hesitate to help us restoring vivacity and colors to the daily lives of all our children with cancer !
Halema is from Al-Wadi Al-Gadid governorate. It is the largest governorate in Egypt which is located in the southeastern part of the country. It is famous for the oasis and for the safari tours in the desert. It is a place where you find people still enjoying a certain peace of mind as they are far from the false temptations of life.[[Show as slideshow]]
Halema's parents are an example of such people, her mother is a simple devoted housewife and the father, an experienced desert guide. You can observe how proud Halema is when she talks about her parents especially her father as she recalls his exciting stories with famous personalities on desert safaris.
Halema spends 12 hours to get to the hospital for her follow-up and another 12 hours to go back to her hometown on the same day; however, you always find her smiling and very active despite the long and tiresome trip.
You too should be like Halema. Don't stay in the dark when you are going through rough times.
